DVRK ROMANTICS started with a collection of intrusive thoughts, a few broken hearts and a head full of ideas that needed somewhere to go.

Created by Rach Romantic (Rachel DiBiaso), the band began with late night writing sessions, voice notes and a love for storytelling. What started as a way of making sense of things soon turned into something much bigger.

I've always loved the idea of creating worlds through music. Places that don't really exist, but somehow feel familiar. Somewhere you can escape to, get a little lost in, and perhaps recognise parts of yourself along the way.

The first of those places was Life's A Beach, a strange little seaside town where the sun is always shining, the lemons bleed and everything feels just a little bit wrong. It's nostalgic, colourful and slightly unsettling. A bit like looking back on a relationship through rose tinted glasses.

Then came Hotel Delirium, a place for the heartbroken, the hopeless romantics and anyone who's ever wanted to run away from their own thoughts. Behind every door is another story, another memory or something you'd probably rather forget.

At the heart of DVRK ROMANTICS is a love for the weird and wonderful, mixed with the very real experience of being human. Love, heartbreak, anxiety, obsession, regret and all the ridiculous things we put ourselves through in between.

Musically, we're a mixture of indie rock, dark pop and glam, with a love for big sounds, theatrical performances and songs that tell a story.

There's something quite freeing about taking the things that have hurt you, embarrassed you or kept you awake at night and turning them into something creative. Sometimes it's serious, sometimes it's sarcastic and sometimes it's just a bit ridiculous.

But that's the beauty of it.

DVRK ROMANTICS is really just a collection of stories, strange places and very human feelings, dressed up in something a little more fantastical.

And we're only just getting started.
